Remember how I promised to make this blog about ACTUAL KNITTING this year? So I've browsed a few online/electronic knitting magazines lately, but my age shows when I get frustrated with the clicking and the clicking and more clicking. I
like reading books and mags on paper, all curled up in my corner of the couch; plus owning a brick and mortar yarn shop sort of conditioned me away from buying online. When you have rent and overhead, you tend to resent the virtual world - they seem to have it so easy!
But
I'm trying to change my fuddy-duddy ways, so I checked out Knitcircus - the title grabbed me right away. Originally a glossy print publication, it went digital a year ago and the designs are so great and the format is so ingenious that I even subscribed! Anyone can browse the magazine online to see the gorgeous project photos (and zoom on the details), read the articles, and see the ads. But to get the actual pattern instructions, you either subscribe or buy them each separately. Subscribing is quite affordable - each issue ends up costing around the same as just a pattern or two. And there's even a recipe in each issue!
Check it out here: Knitcircus. Sweetheart editor Jaala Spiro won me over the digital mag world, and now she is letting me give away a Spring 2011 Pattern Collection to one of my lucky readers! (Considering your chance is about 1 in 2.5, give it a try. Seriously.) Just click on over and browse Knitcircus, then post a comment here on what you thought of it. A lucky winner will be chosen by a randon number generator at midnight on February 10. Good luck, and I can't wait to see what you think!

I stumbed upon knitcircus for the first time this week. Liked it so much I subscribed for a year. I particularly enjoyed the Aran sweater article.
I like reading Knitcircus. Love all the articles. Looks like my chance is 50/50 now!
I love KnitCircus! The articles. The patterns. Makes me want to knit more!
Knitcircus looks like a fantastic mag. Checked it out the other day, patterns look fab and love how I can click on an image and it brings you right to that advertiser's website. It's a fun way to read a mag.
I love themagazine. I especially liked the write up on Alana Dakos of Never Not Knitting. I am a fan of hers.

I love the colorful photos and the layout. I hope I win the collection.
I think Bianca Boonstra designed a beautiful shawl.
Bye,
Ilona/Jenlon.
I enjoyed Knitcircus a lot. I was surprised by the quality of the articles - I thought it was just a collection of patterns! Like the free patterns too. :-)
I've been really intrigued by their pricing scheme (the whole get-the-entire-issue-now-or-never thing). I must admit I didn't like this latest issue as much as the last one, but I'd really like to get my hands on the Slanting Rib Socks since the construction looks very interesting.
I love Alana Dakos, too! She came to a knitting retreat we did in 2009, and her designs were a huge hit. I follow her blog, and have her Cedar Leaf Shawl all ready to go with a skein of Pagewood Farms.
Uh-oh - looks like our chances are getting much more slim! This looks like a great emag! Thanks for sharing!
I almost wish it was a print magazine!!! But I always forget which magazine has what pattern!!
Online is easier to find...
Very interesting, sorry I missed the give a way.
