Whew! Spring sprung a while ago, but I finally feel like I have a handle on it. The rain and cold are gone, the garden is in, the taxes are done, softball's over, the house is quasi-clean, the chronic paperwork pile is (at least) not growing, we had an awesome Spring Break, and the kids are back in school. Here are some early garden photos - first stuff from last year.
| Blackberry vine from last year! |
| Raspberry vine from last year :-( |
| Grapefruit tree I moved into a pot - it's thriving now. |
| The alyssum and creeping geraniums have really spread. |
| The Sweet William in the playhouse beds really filled in. |
| Trying the strawberries in a partial shade since they didn't do well last year. |
Now some new things, or faves I replanted.
| Greens bed - lettuces, collards, spinach and swiss chard. |
| Cucumbers, alyssum, and herbs. |
| Lettuce, polka dot plant, basil, and herbs. |
| These started as hydroponic lettuces, but weren't doing well so in the dirt they went. |
| Brussel sprouts - my new fave veggie! |
| The pepper patch - bells, anaheim, jalapeno. |
Bean and pea teepees with zucchini and yellow squash in the middle.
Notice my CORN FIELD in the background?? |
| Petunias and sweet potato vine in the playhouse window boxes. |
| The tomato plants - scientifically engineered like Monica's! |
And the piece de resistance - the "herby bird bath" that I built to fill
the gaping hole a broken top branch left in my pink daisy shrub. |
Next I'll post some knitting updates and pix from our very first family camping trip!
